Brian Tracy! Get Rich Your Way
10. Top Of Activities
“Don’t butt. Let’s aim outside the baseball field.
Target the company of immortals. – David Ogilvy
In the course of this book,
I have focused on the ways in which most people become rich:
They provide a good quality needed product
or service at a reasonable price.
They add value in some way
and maintain some of that value.
They continue to look for better,
faster and cheaper ways to get more done for more people.
“One of the major differences
between successful and unsuccessful people is
that the former look for problems to resolve,
whereas the latter make every attempt to avoid them.” – Grant Cardone

THREE WAYS
In this final chapter,
I’d like to introduce you to three other paths to wealth
for getting rich your way.
Each of these paths has followed the success of hundreds of thousands
and even millions of people
who have achieved financial well-being.
***********
Get a good job and do it well
The first path is to just get a good job
and by progressing
at a successful company
over the course of your career.
About 10% of self-made millionaires in the US work
for other companies their entire lives.
They get rich by becoming really good at what they do,
they get paid very well for the work they do
and then save their money
by saving, investing and investing in options. stock.
*************
Become a pro
The second way that people become rich is
by gaining fame in a professional world,
for example,
law,
medicine,
architecture or engineering,
and then committing themselves to the top in the field.
Up to 10% of self-made millionaires
in the US are professionals,
defined as highly qualified people,
reaching the top 10% of people in their fields.
Hence they are very well paid for what they do.
They are among the 20% of professionals
who make 80% of their money in that type of occupation.
*************
Become a business leader
The third way you can become a self-made millionaire,
which is about 5% of self-made millionaires,
is by becoming the top entrepreneur in your field.
In business, the 80/20 rule still holds true.
The top 20% of people in the business make 80% of the money
in that business.
This means that when you calculate according to this principle,
the average income of the top 20% of business people is 16 times
the average income of the bottom 80%.
But achieving better results is that the top 20%
of the top 20% or the 4% of business people make 80%
of the money in the top 20%.
This means that the top 4% of sales can earn an income 25 times
or more than the average sales people in the bottom 80% of sales.
Over the years,
I have presented at business conferences organized
to honor high achievers in organizations and companies.
At two of these conferences on different business lines,
the average income of conference attendees was $850,000 per year.
The average income of the average businessman in those same lines
of business is $24,000 per year.
“Success tends to bless those who are most committed
to giving it the most attention.” – Grant Cardone

GENERAL SAMPLES
That turns out there are two common denominators
of the top people in their fields.
First, those top people all started at the bottom group.
They didn’t know anything about it before.
Everything they’ve ever done they have
to learn and do on their own.
Second, early in their careers,
they made the decision to “be excellent” about what they were doing.
They start early and work harder
and more persistently.
They are tirelessly committed,
constantly developing themselves
and professionally.
They are determined to “pay the price”
for anything to achieve great success in their chosen field.
In each of these different paths to becoming a millionaire, t
here are three keys to success.
First, aim to be as expensive as possible in your field.
Second, the decision to be absolutely brilliant
at what you do comes down to continual personal
and professional development.
Third, resolve to save and invest 10% to 20% of your income
over the course of your career.
By doing these three things,
your financial future will be secured.
“To maintain your enthusiasm,
you have to make your goals substantial enough
that they keep your attention.” – Grant Cardone
**************
SECRETS OF HEALTH, WEALTH, HAPPINESS
Over the years and in this book,
we have revealed some of the secrets
to living and enjoying the great life.
Here are some principles
and practices that follow contemporaries
to achieve the happiest,
healthiest,
and most financially successful.
There may be a character that will suit you.
**************
Do what you love to do
The common denominator of successful people in all fields
is that they do what they love.
They analyze and decide on their innate abilities and talents,
then they choose a career accordingly.
Then they organize their lives
so that they can focus fully on doing something they really enjoy
and from there they get great satisfaction and joy.
**************
Realize your core competencies
Whatever your field,
you must first get
Figure out your core competencies,
the things you do exceptionally well,
and then organize your life everywhere
to do the job better and better.
You must identify areas of work specialization in
which you can best achieve
and make the most valuable contribution.
*************
Put your heart into what you do
Live with passion!
Once you’ve determined
what you can really do well
and what you enjoy most,
you have to put your heart into doing whatever it is.
There is only one way to go
and you stick to it.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson said,
“Nothing great has ever been accomplished
without enthusiasm.”
**************
Determined to achieve excellence
There are no shortcuts to personal
and professional excellence.
The main reason people fail to achieve their goals
and “live in silence” is
that they are constantly not getting better results
for what they do.
They are not committed to continuous learning.
They have a basic education,
sometimes even a university degree,
and then try to jump into a career using
only the accumulated knowledge.
This is inevitable failure.
You have to be determined to be excellent
and then you have to pay any price to get there.
*************
Become a lifelong learner
To be the best, you have to constantly research your field.
You have to listen to audio programs while in the car
instead of driving around
and listening to music.
You must attend every seminar
and course you can find that will help you progress in your field.
Sometimes a small idea
or change in your approach
or way of dealing with some situation can change the direction
of your career and lead you to great success.
The people who are at the top in every field are not necessarily
those who are born with more talent than others.
Instead they are the ones taking the time to learn
what they need to know to become better than their competition.
****************
Earn better rewards
If you want to have a better life,
you have to become better than others in your field.
The market offers very special rewards just
for extraordinary performance.
It offers average rewards
for mediocre performance
and the market offers below average rewards,
precariousness
and unemployment for below average performance.
Be determined to be in the top 10%
of the top earners in your field.
**************
Save your money
Working for others can also make you rich.
Many top professionals,
senior executives
and superstar business people make hundreds of thousands
of dollars a year.
Some of them can even earn more.
But even with an income of only $50,000 per year,
if you save 10% of this income,
$5,000 per year and earn 81/2
to 10% interest from age 25 to 65,
you will become a millionaire.
No matter how much you earn,
even the average salary,
if you spend 10% or more of your income continuously
throughout your working life and never touch it,
you can become a millionaire. .
If you start earning $50,000,
$60,000,
$70,000 and more,
saving 10% of your income,
your chances of becoming a millionaire
or a millionaire are almost certain.
***************
Unleash your potential right where you work
Not everyone can
or will become a business owner
to start building their own business.
Today about 90% of people are best suited
to work within the structure of large organizations,
where they can use their specialized talents
to the best of their ability.
You might be a great fit to help build a company.
You may be more comfortable in a corporate environment.
Peter Drucker said,
“The purpose of an organization is to maximize strengths
and make weaknesses irrelevant.”
The reason companies form is
because investors recognize
that they need different types of people with specialized talents
to accomplish their goals of producing products
and services and marketing effective.
If you have specialized talent or ability,
you can actually work in a business
that will be more valuable than working on your own.
You can work in a field where your expertise
or abilities are appreciated
and make the maximum contribution to the results
that the company must achieve
in order to survive and thrive.
“You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them.” –Michael Jordan
**************
LET YOUR CAREER INTO SUSTAINABLE WAY
There are several strategies you can implement
to put your career on a sustainable path
and ensure you earn the most income possible
in the shortest amount of time.
***************
Make yourself indispensable
First and perhaps most importantly,
make yourself indispensable.
Luckily, this idea doesn’t come to mind
for too many people.
When you start working to become indispensable,
you step on the accelerator pedal
*************
Accelerate your own career.
The principle is this:
You will always be paid in direct proportion to what you do,
how well you do it, and no one can replace you.
Your aim should be to focus on being so valuable
and important to your company
that it just can’t leave you.
Your contribution will be needed
if even without you the company’s sales market will collapse
and production will be discontinued,
you will become one of the last people the company can eliminate.
Always ask yourself,
“What does my company need from me?”
and “Of all the things I can do,
what are some that I can add the most value to my company?”
In our advanced training for successful executives
and business owners, we continually encourage people
to ask the question,
“If I could only do one thing all day,
what would it be?
What is it?”
The answer to this question is almost always a mission
or activity where you contribute the most value
to your company and to those around you.
**************
Work harder than others
Promote a good reputation work hard.
Nothing will put your career on a sustainable path faster
than developing a good reputation
as one of the hardest workers in your organization.
Unfortunately,
most people are lazy.
However,
they will never admit it,
they start work as late as possible,
they take every lunch or coffee break they can
and they stop working at the earliest possible time maybe.
They always have enough reason to be sick on every day
of allowed sick leave over the course of a year and they are bound
to take their own vacations,
holidays and anniversaries.
Unknowingly they see work as punishment.
They look for ways to do as little work as possible
and get out of the workplace as soon as possible.
But this center of gravity is not suitable for you.
Hard work makes you focus on your strengths faster
than any other simple quality you might display.
The principle has always been,
“Start early, work harder, and stay later.”
People who achieve high positions in any organization
are always the ones who work harder
than the average person on their way up the ladder.
These people are sharp and immediately recognize
that others below them in the office are also hard-working people.
“A horse of a horse, a ox.”
Top leaders are constantly looking for someone else
to be promoted and pulled up to their position.
Hard-working people find doors of opportunity open
to them whenever they go.
**************
Do your work continuously
Perhaps the most important rule to succeed in your job is
to keep working on your job!
Do not waste time.
Do your work continuously.
This simple principle makes it possible
for you to leapfrog your competition.
When you arrive in the morning,
go to work right away.
Don’t drink coffee,
read the newspaper,
chat with coworkers,
or check personal e-mail.
Instead, jump right into your important task,
the one your boss considers most valuable,
and work on it until it’s done.
Do it as if your life depended on it.
If someone comes in and asks,
“Shall we chat for a while?”
You immediately say,
“Not now.
Right now I have to work!”
Suggest you join the conversation after hours.
Refuse to view the workplace as a social club
where you spend time chatting with your co-workers.
This is the fastest way to failure
and not achieving the desired results.
***************
Invest more time
Opportunities for promotion,
promotion,
greater responsibility,
extra training and education seem to come to those
who are willing to put in extra time
and overtime.
Companies are always willing to invest in people
when they feel that the investment
will result in increased productivity
and achievement.
That’s why training opportunities
and greater responsibility seem
to point toward hard workers,
like iron filings attracted to a magnet.
The working week of mid-level executives is about 60 hours.
Almost all high-paid people work longer hours than low-paid people.
There are very few people on the road
to rapid advancement in any job
or profession who only work 5 days
or 40 hours a week.
All top people work longer hours
and consistently do what they do.
If you want to enjoy the life of an executive, it’s simple:
You must be willing to put in as many hours of work
as executives invest in their work.
Since the law of sowing and reaping is inviolable,
you must be willing to put in those hours over a long period of time.
You have to be willing to work for months
or even years before you start reaping the rewards
of long hours of hard work.
************
Work development
Here’s a simple strategy that can expand your business.
Determined from now on to start working an hour earlier.
This will require you to turn off the TV in the evening,
wake up a little earlier,
and get into work so you can start work an hour before everyone else.
The rule of thumb is that one hour of uninterrupted work
will give you the same productivity
as three hours of interrupted work
when people often have to go in and out at work.
The second part of the strategy
for you is to work past your lunch hour.
Because of school conditions as children
and when they first started working,
many people consider lunchtime to be an inviolable time
that must be respected no matter what.
This is absolutely not true.
From now on,
resolve to work even at lunchtime,
when everyone else is absent.
This will give you an extra hour
of time almost completely uninterrupted,
while you can keep up with your duties
and responsibilities and your work surpasses others.
Finally, resolve to work an hour longer than anyone else
by staying at work later.
During this time,
you can keep up with your work
and plan for the upcoming day,
respond to correspondence,
complete proposals,
report and excel at your work.
*********************
Increased working hours
By starting work an hour earlier,
working past lunchtime,
and then staying an hour later,
you will gain a few extra hours of work.
By coming to work earlier you will avoid most rush hour traffic jams
and leaving work late you will be home after rush hour.
If your typical workday is between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.,
resolve to start working at 7:30 a.m.
and work until 6 p.m from now on.
You will be surprised at the difference it will make to your career.
First of all, every day you will get 3 more productive hours.
Since this time will be almost uninterrupted,
you will be able to be 2 or 3 times more productive
than the people around you.
You will feel calmer and more confident.
You will feel more positive and in control of your work.
And most of all,
the people
who can help you will most likely notice
how many hours you work overtime
and how productive you are.
This opens the doors to your promotion faster
than anything else you can do.
*************
Take 100% responsibility
One of the best strategies to put your career on the fast track
for you is to take full responsibility for the results of your work.
Always say the words over and over again,
“I am responsible!”
Refusing to overlook or blame others
for delays or unexpected problems.
Instead, take full responsibility
and accountability for your work.
There is a direct relationship between the degree to
which you are willing to accept responsibility
for the results of your organization
and the level of competence,
influence, status,
prestige and salary you will achieve in that company.
***********
Determine your priorities
There are two key areas of responsibility you must commit to fulfilling.
First, be sure to make it clear to your boss
about the most important things you do for that company.
Your prioritization is not going to make you work hard
and excel at something your boss doesn’t consider most important.
But it can help you start
and finish a very good task that your boss will find valuable.
*******************
Get tasks from your boss
Second, take responsibility for tasks your boss doesn’t want to do.
A few years ago, when I worked for a senior executive,
he allowed me to review his letters each morning before he came in.
I immediately saw that small problems that I could solve quickly
and efficiently would save him time
and save him the trouble of having to deal with them.
It’s coincidental because no one who worked
for him had ever volunteered
to take on these small responsibilities.
I was surprised how much he appreciated not having to do these minutiae.
The more I took on these trivial tasks for him,
the more he liked me and he ended up giving me a raise.
I later learned that in the course of working
with that company he paid me more than anyone else
with any qualifications who had worked for him.
*************
Never be satisfied
The third strategy regarding accountability
is perhaps the most important.
It’s simple: ask for more.
This approach could make a career out of you.
I am sometimes invited to speak
with graduates of commercial business classes.
The organizers told me that these young men were about
to start their careers.
They are anxious and lack confidence.
They don’t know what it takes to become successful.
Can I bring my comments to talk about these concerns?
My advice is always three parts.
******************
First, I let them know that their main job is to fully understand
what their boss wants them to do
and then do it quickly and well.
Prioritize their time
and always do the most important tasks
first as their boss will determine these tasks.
******************
Second, when you’ve peaked at your job,
go to your boss and say,
“I want more responsibility.”
From now on and throughout your career,
this becomes your mantra:
“I want more responsibility.”
First, your boss will thank you
for the offer
and tell you to let them “think about it.”
But each time you meet your boss,
when you’ve reached your peak at work,
say that you want to add value to the company
and that you “want to take on more responsibility.”
**************
Discover your luck
I hesitated to step into this strategy a few years ago
when I started working for a large company.
Because I started early,
worked hard,
and stayed late,
I’ve always been on top of my work,
if not better.
I have a lot of potential and want to get more work.
So I started asking for more responsibility.
And I finally got it.
Which brings me to my fourth suggestion.
When your boss gives you extra responsibility,
take it clumsily like a new game of football
and run fast across the field.
Put all your heart into completing the responsibilities quickly
and it’s good to have a reputation for speed.
Whenever my boss gives me extra responsibilities,
even on a Friday afternoon,
I jump right in and work on it
without stopping until it’s done.
Sometimes I work until the end of the week
to finish so that the proposal
and report are completed by Monday morning.
This always amazes my boss
because no one in the company has such a sense of urgency.
************
Never say it
On many occasions I go to great lengths
to get work done quickly,
such as a proposal or report
that needs to be completed much earlier
than my boss originally planned.
But that is always available
and my boss is very pleased.
So he gave me more
and more responsibility.
Each time you take on a new responsibility,
you have the opportunity to learn,
grow,
and become more valuable.
Each time you complete a new responsibility quickly,
you increase your credibility without having to say it.
Before long, whenever your boss needs
to get something important done quickly,
you’ll be the first person that comes to his mind.
This strategy is so powerful and effective
that it can transform your entire career.
*************
Fast advancement
In one survey, 104 executives were asked
what qualities would most help young people in their agencies
to get a raise and get promoted faster.
About 86% of them agree on two qualities
to get promoted quickly.
The first they say is the ability to set priorities.
They look for people who can separate the appropriate
from the inappropriate.
They value people who can do such tasks representing 80%
of the total value of the work.
The second quality they look for
is the ability to work quickly.
They seek “a sense of urgency.”
That’s not necessarily your most important task.
What they ask of you is to get the job done quickly and well.
These are the two qualities
that a promising person gets promoted the fastest,
and both can be learned
through repeated practice.
**************
Develop the right strategy
The powerful way to put your career on a sustainable path
is called “the right strategy.”
This strategy requires you to do the right thing
whose results are essential to the success of the business or organization.
Regardless of size, cash capital is almost always the determining factor
of a company or organization.
Any disruption of cash flow could threaten
the survival of the company.
The right strategy requires you to see the most important role
in the company’s activities as it affects the cash flow,
and then you have to do the right role in that area.
There are six areas of activity in most companies,
any of which can be a vital activity
that will determine the cash flow of the business.
Your job is to first understand how your company works
and where its profits come from,
and then identify that key area.
*********
Marketing and Sales
The primary source of working cash
for most companies is marketing and sales.
The survival of the company depends mainly
on the source of consumables
and continuous income.
The success of the sales and marketing department
is at the heart or core of the company in that organization.
If marketing and sales are the key areas of your company
and you want to quickly surpass the others,
then you must be in the right place in marketing and sales.
You have to learn how to sell,
which you can learn through study and practice.
Then you have to put all your heart into doing your job
to excel and become indispensable
to you in that field.
***********
Finance
The second most important area in a company can be finance.
The survival of some companies depends on the ability
to negotiate loans and raise capital in the financial markets.
The person in that company with the best ability
to raise capital will deal with financial intermediaries
such as banks and venture capitalists,
becoming the most important person in the group in that position.
***********
Manufacturing
Another area that determines working cash flow
is managing the production of a product or service.
In some cases,
the person responsible for production
will be more important than anyone else in the business.
For example,
a reputable brewery holds
a unique position in its market.
Because of the competition,
the market share for a particular beer has to be solid.
It must not fluctuate too much in one month compared to another.
However, if a particular brand of beer
for any reason cannot be purchased immediately,
the buyer will not wait.
They will buy from another beer brand right away
and they often switch to buying that brand regularly.
Therefore, the most important position in the brewery
is also the position related to cash resources
as chief maintenance engineer.
Why? As the success or failure of the brewery depends on the steady,
continuous and reliable production
that will keep the beer stocked at the stalls.
Any disruption to brewing at the brewery
immediately brings the entire business to a halt.
Revenue is absent,
profits are abruptly cut off,
and the brewery’s financial vigor could be at stake.
This means that the chief maintenance engineer at the brewery is
actually more important than the company president.
The company president
and other executives can walk around,
but if the chief maintenance engineer cannot ensure
that all equipment is in good working order,
brewery operations may slow down.
Roll your eyes around your company.
No one admits to having enough urgent core competencies
for a particular field.
Sometimes you may realize that a job
or position is crucial to the survival of that company.
By getting into that key position,
you can multiply your value.
In fact, you can become indispensable.
**************
Distribution channels
In some organizations,
a product
or service delivery channel can provide you with the right strategy.
The success of distributors and the maintenance
of distribution channels can be more important than any other activity.
For example, car manufacturers need to have a network
of dealers to generate a constant source of working cash.
Almost all products manufactured
for that reason are completely dependent on their distributors.
The person who has the most influence over distribution channels
or networks of merchants is often the most important person in the company.
If distribution is the key to your organization’s success,
then this may be the right strategy you should get right in the position.
By spending time working with the person
or organization that distributes your product,
you can become vital
to securing the working cash flow your business expects.
*********
Labor Relations
Appropriate strategies can be applied to employment relationships.
Sometimes the success of an organization,
especially one without a union,
will depend entirely on its ability
to keep its workforce running smoothly.
If labor relations are a key component of your business,
by becoming excellent at your labor management practices
you can become a necessity for your business,
so you are paid high salaries.
**************
Relationships with the government
Another area where the appropriate strategy can be applied is
to arrange relationships with the government.
Some organizations are completely dependent on their ability
to obtain government approval.
They need to maintain meaningful relationships
with key government officials who decide
and control business operations.
If this is the case for your business,
one of the most important positions in your company will be meeting
and liaising with government officials
to ensure the company can continue to grow
and develop market its products.
For example, pharmaceutical companies in the US are now dependent
on FDA (Food and Drug Administration)
approval for the manufacture
and distribution of drugs.
A process becomes too complicated
that it takes 7 to 10 years
and almost a billion dollars,
plus a small truck full of paperwork
and reports to get approval for a simple drug.
People in the company
who can negotiate this process effectively will be crucial
to the success of the organization
and get paid well.
*************
Be useful, then indispensable
Regardless of the appropriate strategy in your organization,
one of the best ways to get ahead of everyone else in your business is
to get in the right cash flow critical areas of your business,
and essential for the success of the business.
Your job is to be outstanding at the top
and then indispensable in that field.
You will be amazed how you get promoted so quickly
and get paid so well for your work.
****************
Professional knowledge development
“Knowledge is power.”
Expert knowledge or skills in an important area
will increase your chances
of getting a promotion.
Controlling important information is also powerful.
The principle is this:
Learn all you can about the job of your choice,
but never say everything you know.
The more information and expertise you have,
the more valuable you become and no one can replace you.
This doesn’t mean you have to hide information.
You will share it freely with those
who need it to do their job well.
The more you share your expertise,
the smarter and more valuable you will appear.
Meanwhile, take the time to hone in on your work,
especially in the area of expertise in which you work.
Provide and share information when people ask you.
But if people don’t ask for it,
keep it private.
The more proprietary information you have
that is crucial to your company’s success,
the more important you become to that company,
the faster you get promoted
and the better you get paid.
*************
Get the job done quickly
Move quickly to opportunities.
Get the job done quickly.
Considered someone who gets the job done quickly.
Having a reputation
for working at speed means more than anything else
you can do that will propel your career forward.
By doing things quickly,
you increase your chances of being assigned more opportunities
to take on more responsibilities.
When you take on these responsibilities with a sense of urgency
and complete them quickly and reliably,
you will attract the attention of people
who can help you.
Today, there is a “need for speed.”
People who do things faster are said to be more agile
and capable than those who take more time to complete the task.
Your decision to move quickly when the opportunity presents
or the demands of responsibility,
can give you the sharpness to succeed in your field.
**************
Create a wide relationship
Put in place a plan to build strong relationships with others,
both inside and outside of your organization.
This can help you more than you can imagine
and leads to all sorts of doors open to you.
In a recent study that compared successful department heads
who were promoted quickly with managers
whose careers seemed to progress more slowly,
researchers found that the habit of building strong relationships was a factor.
typical key between the two groups.
That study included effective department heads
who were defined as getting things done.
But successful managers are defined as those
who are often promoted faster.
Surveying time use in both groups,
they found that effective department heads are the ones
who get the job done,
spending only about 14% of their time building wide relationships
and communicating
with people inside and outside their divisions
and companies.
However, successful department heads,
who get promoted quickly,
spend 54% of their time building strong relationships.
They eat breakfast with people inside
and outside their line of business.
They have lunch with key figures inside
and outside their organization.
They join industry associations
and attend meetings and present at seminars.
They make friends and socialize with people inside their businesses
and in other organizations.
************
Get to know more people
Thanks to this constant network activity,
they became acquainted with many people.
So the more people know you and get to know you in a beneficial way,
the more successful your career will be.
People like to do business with people they know.
People like to hire and promote people they know.
People like to introduce and talk about people they know.
A mention or introduction of you
due to your previous contacts can change your entire career direction.
This often happens with heads of network operations continuously.
*************
Strategies to create broad relationships
To Using a broad networking strategy,
your first step is to join an industry association.
Close ties with your chamber of commerce.
Join your local business association and make connections.
Don’t just pay membership fees and attend meetings.
Instead, volunteer to serve on a key committee.
Find a way to contribute to that organization.
Whenever you join an organization,
you get a list of members and an org chart.
Consider the different committees and the people
who hold positions on them.
You ask yourself,
“Which individuals in this organization
or association do you know who would be most helpful?”
Get to know those people and the committees they serve,
then join one of them and volunteer to take charge.
Whenever something needs to be done,
raise your hand.
By working with people at voluntary associations
you can gain the attention of key decision-makers
in an unbiased environment.
These are the people who can help you
and open doors
for you into the future.

Success Formula
This is one of the best formulas for success
I’ve ever seen.
It is simply “T x R = P.”
This formula means:
Talent (T- talent) multiplied by relationships
(R-Relationship) equals productivity (P-Productivity).
This formula predicts and determines
how much you will eventually be paid
and how high you will go.
This simple formula explains the success of many people.
When you multiply your talents by your relationships
or the number of people you know,
your productivity,
achievement and effectiveness,
salary,
and potential for promotion will increase.
The quality and quantity of the people you know,
and the people who know you in a positive way,
will largely determine your success in business and in your life.
Your goal should be to continually expand your network
throughout your career.
****************
Learn to stand and give presentations
A great way to advance your career faster is to learn how to stand.
This is one of the most valuable
and valuable skills in business.
And fortunately,
today most people can express themselves well with words,
but before having to say anything,
it was extremely embarrassing.
But by learning how to do it,
they have become perfect speakers.
**************
Join a public speaking group
The best way to learn how to stand up and speak
in front of a crowd is to join Toastmasters International
(the group of people who announce toast at international parties).
Toastmasters was founded in 1923 by a merchant
who realized that many other business people wanted
and needed to learn how to speak fluently
and confidently in front of others.
He developed a simple process that psychologists call “Systemic Desensitization”.
With this process, you repeat the behavior over and over again
until you eventually become desensitized to it.
If you stand up and say it over and over again,
every week,
eventually you won’t be afraid to speak in public.
This is the basic Toastmasters International method.
Almost anyone can participate;
Toastmasters is a charity organization.
Flip through your Yellow Pages to find the name
and number of the
Toastmasters association closest to you (in the US),
then call and arrange to attend the meeting.
If you attend the meeting
and like the people there,
they will encourage you to join
and start attending weekly meetings.
At each meeting,
you will have the opportunity to stand up
and share some thoughts
and opinions with others.
Eventually, you’ll reach the point where you’re completely free
from the fear of public speaking.
This experience can be life-changing.
****************
According to Dale Carnegie’s Course
Another way that you can learn to stand up
for verbal expression is to join a course offered by Dale Carnegie
(the author of many books on how to be a human being translated
into Vietnamese by Nguyen Hien Le. LMC)
that offers one of the courses.
The most sophisticated accelerated learning in the US
for verbal language learning.
In 12 to 14 weeks,
teachers will help you become more confident,
competent and comfortable.
You will learn how to make a presentation outline
and give a quick speech in front of friends or strangers.
Also, the Dale Carnegie Foundation is listed in any phone book (in the US).
Become really eager to learn
As you learn to stand up orally,
read books on public speaking.
Listen to audiotapes on effective verbal communication.
Remember that public speaking is a skill that can be learned.
The better you get at this skill,
the less apprehensive you become
and the more competent you become.
There’s also an added benefit to learning public speaking,
as the more you become able to verbalize in public,
the more confident and impressive
you will be in one-on-one conversations.
Being a person who is qualified to express himself orally
in front of a crowd will make a deeper impression on the audience
others are very strong,
especially in business.
That can also increase your income.
************
Don’t let fear hold you back
If you’re a little shy or anxious about meeting strangers,
make a decision to fix that.
The more confident you are,
the wider your relationships will be.
The more you meet and associate with other people,
the faster you will advance in life.
The very act of learning how to speak in public with confidence
can save you 10 to 20 years of hard work
to reach the same level of your career.
When you can stand to express yourself in words,
those who hear you speak will actually think that you are smarter,
more knowledgeable,
and more talented
than someone who doesn’t.
You are said to be better than you really are
because of the very fact that you can stand to speak
instead of sitting there frozen in fear.
The rewards for investing in public speaking can be enormous.
************
Be excellent
Making a decision today,
as I said at the beginning,
should always be excellent.
Make the decision to be excellent at what you do.
Make the decision to join the top 10%
of the people in your field.
The rule here is:
If you don’t like what you’re doing enough
to want to be great at it,
it means you’re doing the wrong job
or the wrong career.
People who do the right job for them,
they will be excited about the idea of making better
and better progress in that area.
They eagerly read books,
listen to audio programs and take courses.
They are excited to work harder
so they can advance faster.
If you don’t experience this emotion at your current job,
it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with your profession,
it just means there’s a mismatch
between your particular talent
and your career and your abilities
with the requirements of your current position.
It could mean that you are doing the wrong job
or the wrong profession.
**************
Identify key result areas
In every job there are “key result areas”.
These are the results that you must be extremely active in
to make your work so satisfactory.
In business, administration, and enterprise,
there are areas of critical results that are essential
in each of those areas’ work.
Your first job is to identify the most important results you need to have
and then come up with a plan to excel at each job in those areas.
“Slowest Child”
This is an important discovery.
Your weakest key skill sets the peak of your work performance
and earnings.
You can excel in every area where results matter,
except for one area of your work.
That single area of weakness can hold you back more
than any other factor.
I sometimes ask my listeners,
“If a group of kids were allowed to go hiking,
which one set the pace that the group should go at?”
Without much hesitation, they replied,
“The slowest one”.
Likewise, your “slowest child” is your weakest skill.
This is a skill that determines
how quickly you will advance in your career.
How often do you ask yourself this key question:
“What single skill would have the greatest positive
impact on my career,
if I consistently excelled and developed it?”
Your answer to that question will probably be the weakest skill.
Increasing your competence in this area will have a greater effect
on the overall results than anything else you do.
Your job is to recognize this unique skill area,
identify it yourself or discuss it with your boss,
and then commit to learning and excelling in that particular area.
***************
Mastery is the key
Your weakest skill area is often something
you particularly dislike doing.
You are not sure about it.
Sometimes you don’t like it or fear it.
But remember this:
The only reason you’re insecure about a particular skill area is
because you haven’t mastered that skill.
You will not feel anxious
or confused about any area
where you feel qualified and confident.
Fortunately, all entrepreneurial skills can be learned.
Whatever business skill you need to learn
to speed up your career,
you can acquire it.
Make it a goal, make a plan,
and then work on becoming a little better each day in that area.
In a week, a month or a year,
you will look back and you will be amazed
at how proficient you are at that task.
At that point the anxiety
and anxiety about this field of work will disappear
and your career will be on a sure path of advancement.
***************
Missing skills
This is the final point to being excellent.
Maybe you’re just missing a single skill
to double your productivity,
achievement,
output,
and income.
By learning one more skill
Once more key skills add to your existing skill base,
you’ll be able to achieve a much higher level than your previous level.
Don’t hold yourself back in your career just
because a simple skill can be learned that you haven’t mastered yet.
***************
Develop good work habits
To put yourself on a steady growth path,
it’s important to be a good time manager
and develop productive work habits.
In life, you will always be paid according to the quality
and quantity of your contribution.
You will always and only be paid for the results you achieve,
not the hours you put in.
Concentration is a measure of individual performance.
You keep asking yourself,
“Why am I getting paid that salary?
What have I been hired to accomplish?
What results do people expect from me?”
***************
You and only you?
Here is the most important question:
“What can and only can I do if done well that will make
a real difference to my company?”
The answer to this question,
and your ability to force yourself to answer it,
can make you advance faster than anything else you can do.
By asking and answering this question,
you will be able to continuously focus on your key results areas.
The majority of people
who work in the office (in the US) are poor time managers.
According to the Robert Half International Institute,
the average employee works at 50%
or less of their capacity.
The average employee spends 37%
of their time chatting in vain with co-workers.
They waste the other 13% by being late,
leaving early, taking long breaks and lunches,
reading newspapers,
drinking coffee, and surfing the Internet.
While the other 50% of the time they actually have to do something
for their mandatory work,
they often do low-priority tasks that they often leave unfinished.
They procrastinate,
delay,
and then complain about the rush of work.
***************
Work less each year
According to recent studies,
the average American working week has for many years fallen
from 44 hours,
now to about 32 hours.
The amount of time you spend on lunches,
breaks,
personal days off, sick days,
delays and all sorts of other factors,
the average employee works about 32 hours per week,
the He wastes about 50% of his time.
It is not surprising that people complain
that their incomes do not increase with the rate of inflation.
This is because no one can afford
to pay someone who works
less but earns more.
***************
Do not waste time
To step onto a solid career path,
don’t waste time.
Instead, picture yourself getting a certain amount
per hour for doing a certain amount of work.
Imagine you are being watched all the time
to make sure you do the work that you get paid for.
Imagine you have to earn an hourly income at the “hourly rate”.
Do your work continuously.
The best part is that the more you do at work,
the more you get done.
The more you get done,
the better you feel.
It is the completion of the task
that releases endorphins into the brain
that make you feel happy,
excited,
and energized.
The endorphins that excite
and motivate you
to do more are even more important.
The highest salaries paid to employees who work hard
and complete important tasks make you begin
to feel truly satisfied with yourself,
your work,
and your life.
***************
Developing a competency base
Start today building a foundation of competence in your company
and in your community.
The more you are aware of having to be competent,
the more doors will open to you
and the more opportunities you will be presented with.
There are three basic forms of competence in any organization.
These forms are variously called personal competence,
professional competence and positional competence.
You develop them in order.
***************
Personal capacity
Personal competence refers to your ability
to get along well with others
to be greatly admired,
friendly,
and well liked by your colleagues.
The more people like and enjoy being with you
because you try to get along well with them,
the more they will admire you
and value your ideas and opinions.
They will also assign you additional features
of competence and effectiveness.
Because they like you,
in fact,
people will support you and want you to do well.
***************
Professional competence
You develop your professional competence
by focusing on your work and doing it excellently.
The more you become aware of having to specialize
in an important part of your company,
the more people will admire and admire you.
The more skilled you become at your job,
the more attention you’ll gain from important people in the workplace
who can promote you and pay you better.
Professional development is essential
if you want to grow old
have in the course of his career.
Money always follows excellent performance.
***************
Position capacity
Position capacity must be consistent
with the position and rank.
If you have a position in a company,
this gives you the power to hire and fire employees,
the power to reward and punish,
the power to make decisions and the power
to determine the outcomes of events.
When you achieve ministry competence and perform excellently,
money,
rewards, and opportunities quickly follow.
***************
The process of accumulating capacity
Each of these forms of competence is essential
to your long-term success
and making your way to wealth.
First, you develop your personal competence
by being a team member.
You work hard
and cooperate well with others.
You do and say the right things
for people who like you and feel comfortable with you.
Meanwhile,
you read,
listen, study and take courses
to become absolutely brilliant at your work.
By doing your job well,
you develop your professional competence.
As a result of your personal and professional competencies,
you will almost automatically be given positional competencies,
which you can use to move up the ranks faster within your organization.
***************
Law of reciprocity
Perhaps the most powerful principle of human relationships
is known as the law of reciprocity.
This law states that there is a deep subconscious desire in each person
to exchange or reciprocate
what others have done for them.
People want to respond positively or negatively.
This law of reciprocity holds that people will be willing
to help you achieve your goals to the extent
that you help them achieve theirs.
This is because the best practice you can incorporate
into your relationships is the golden rule:
Do to others as you will be done to you.
Incorporate the law of reciprocity
and the golden rule into all your activities.
Keep looking for ways to help people who can help you,
by helping them first.
Everything you do to help others succeed
at work will make them help you succeed at work as well.
***************
List people who can help you
This is a simple technique.
Make a list of all the people that would be helpful
for you to get to know.
Next to their name,
write down what you think you can do to help each of these people
in some way.
What favor can you do for them?
How can you deal with their debt?
Make a list of all the people you feel can help you,
and then start working on your “sow and reap” strategy.
In what ways can you sow favors,
kindness,
beneficence or help,
will the time come when these will cause people to help you?
This is a strategy that is both selfish and selfish.
Selfish because you find ways
to help others before they help you.
The principle is that whenever you do something good
for someone without expecting anything in return,
the reward will come back to you in unexpected ways.
Ask others,
“Is there anything I can do for you?”
Constantly looking for ways to help people
in their work and personal lives.
Be ready to sow before you reap.
Ready to put in before you take out.
Make it a habit to sow the seeds of gratitude
so that sooner or later you will reap gratitude.
Preserve your integrity as sacred
To put yourself on a sure path to advancement,
practice absolute integrity in everything you do.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson writes,
“Keep your integrity as sacred;
nothing is sacred in the end but the integrity of your soul.”
Integrity is perhaps the most important quality
to succeed and stay at the top for a number of reasons.
First, trust is the basis of all relationships.
Trust is the basis of your relationships with colleagues
and superiors in the workplace.
Trust is the basis of relationships with your family.
Trust is the basis of relationships with friends,
with bankers,
suppliers,
customers,
subordinates,
and so on.
Trust is the glue that holds all relationships together
and trust is fragile.
Trust is based on absolute integrity,
dependability,
consistency
and predictability in your duties.
The key to building trust is being trustworthy.
People must know in their hearts
that they can trust you absolutely
to keep your word and trust you to do what you say.
***************
Believe in yourself
The key to gaining the trust of others is to believe in yourself.
And the key to trusting yourself is
that you have to be honest with yourself in everything,
big or small.
Shakespeare wrote,
“When you yourself are honest,
then it must happen as day and night,
you cannot lie to anyone.”
Being honest with yourself means being true to the best in you.
That means keeping your promises.
Building trust requires you to always do the right thing
or your promise.
Trust means you do what you say,
when you say you will do it,
whether you feel like it or not you will do it.
It is said that the power of a man’s words is measured
when it costs him money to fulfill his promise.
Words have no value.
It has value only when you prove your words by actions
and the wealth that you show to yourself
and make it clear to others,
then your words really have so much value.
***************
Practice popular maxims
Live your life in accordance with your innermost values
and firm convictions.
Practice the philosopher Immanuel Kant’s popular maxim:
“Live your life as if all your actions became a common law.”
Almost all of the problems we face in relationships
and society exist
because people don’t ask themselves the questions below.
They are used to doing attitudes that,
if everyone were to do the same,
would make society corrupt.
Here are four questions you can ask yourself
to keep yourself on the path to growth throughout your life:
***************
1. Your world.
First, ask yourself,
“What kind of world would my world be
if everyone in it were just like me? ”
What would the world be like
if everyone in it lived their lives the same way you live?
What would the world be like if everyone treated others
and treated their responsibilities to their work
and family the same way you treat them?
If you’re honest,
you’ll probably admit that there are some areas
where you can improve.
***************
2. Your country.
Ask yourself,
“What kind of country would my country be
if everyone in it were like me?”
If everyone in the country were treated the same way you are in terms
of civic and social responsibilities,
obeying the law, working and investing,
paying bills and even driving in traffic communication,
is this a better country?
If you are honest,
you will admit that there are
still some areas where you can improve.
********************
3. Your company.
The third question you can ask yourself is,
“What kind of company would my company be
if everyone in it were like me?”
If everyone at your company came to work,
did their job,
and treated everyone else the same way you treat them every day,
would your company be a better company?
If you ask and answer this question honestly,
you will probably provide suggestions for improvement.
Determined from now on to be a role model.
***************
4. Your family.
Finally ask yourself,
“What kind of family would my family be
if everyone in it were like me?”
If everyone in your family treated everyone else the same way you do,
wouldn’t your family be wonderful,
warm, loving, and a safe place to live and grow up?
Is there any improvement you can make
by treating your family members
that will improve and enhance the quality
of your family life?
If you ask these questions often
and set them as your standards
for your attitudes and conduct,
you will find your whole life will get better.
Not only will you be on the fast track
to a solid career advancement,
but you will also begin to become an outstanding person.
***************
Honesty is a wise father
All trusted leaders were once trusted followers.
They become leaders because others want them to be leaders.
And the key qualities we look for in leaders are honesty,
competence,
integrity and drive.
When you build up your energy by being completely honest
and qualified by being excellent at what you do,
all doors will open to you.
***************
Focus on the future
One of the principles of success is that it doesn’t matter
where you come from;
What matters is where you are going.
Almost everyone has an uneasy feeling
that they have wasted a lot of time
and potential in the past.
If they had it happen again
they wouldn’t have the same feelings as before.
Unfortunately,
many people make this feeling
of regret a win-win for their lives.
Instead of devoting their lives back to the exciting years ahead,
they allow themselves to be buried
by the mistakes they’ve made in the past.
Don’t let this happen to you.
Instead, think about the future
and where you are going.
Think about what you can do right now
to create the future you envision for yourself.
Learn what you can from your past mistakes
and forget the rest.
Your determination towards the future will give you energy
and enthusiasm.
And nothing limits your future beyond your imagination.
***************
Perfect talent
In the biblical parable of talent,
there is a line that says,
“You have done well,
faithful and successful servant.
I will let you take charge of big things.”
A great lesson for life in that parable.
The parable says that if you do small things well,
you will become the ruler of big things.
If you do your job well right where you are,
it won’t be long before you have the opportunity to do bigger,
better,
and more important things.
Everyone at the top,
every great success,
was once a young subordinate who did a good job.
Those who are at the top today started from the bottom.
When they start from the bottom,
they go from perfecting their talents,
abilities,
aptitudes,
opportunities
and have developed themselves gradually over the years.
Over time they get better and better,
they slowly rise to positions of greater responsibility
and eventually to leadership positions.
As a result, they are paid well
and promoted faster.
They became rich their own way.
And you can do the same.
There is no limit.
***************
Start where you are
In fact, you can become rich,
just like millions of other people.
You can start right where you are, right now,
and start working on self-improvement.
You can start saving 10% of your income,
keep your living expenses under control,
and pay off your debt.
You can start putting all your heart into what you’re doing right now.
You can be determined to excel in your chosen field.
You can be determined to go the extra mile
and always do more than you get paid.
You can commit to any effort,
any sacrifice to achieve your dream.
You can become rich over the course of your working life
by learning what others have done to get rich before you.
You can then resolve to do the same things over
and over again until you get the same results.
If a slow-minded guy with a job repairing furniture
and living in a dormitory,
saving $100 a month can become a millionaire,
then surely you can do at least that,
if not say more than that.
But you have to get started with that.
***************
Develop a sense of achievement
The starting point of all financial success is
that you must develop a sense of achievement.
Think of yourself as someone training to become rich
and work in progress.
***************
Write and rewrite your goals.
Make a detailed action plan
and review your plans once a day.
Imagine one day you will have great success.
Notice how you experience joy and exultation
about great accomplishment.
What you see in your mind is
what will eventually be in your reality.
The greatest ideas in history have concluded
that your outer life is a reflection
of your inner life.
What you experience in reality is the outward manifestation
of your innermost beliefs and thoughts.
There are no real obstacles
to success outside of you.
All barriers to achievement exist only internally
in the form of fear and ignorance.
You can overcome these mental obstacles by deciding right now,
today, this minute to do something good in your life.
***************
BECOME A PERSON WITH NO LIMITS
It’s just as easy as achieving financial success
and getting rich on your own,
just like struggling and still being poor
and taking a long time.
By working a little harder in the beginning,
you will reap huge rewards later on.
As you begin to practice some of the ideas in this book,
you will begin to plunge,
like a rocket,
towards financial well-being.
You will eventually become
one of the most important people in your community.
You will have a house,
a car,
a luxurious life,
a bank account,
the satisfaction
and pride in your heart
and the self-esteem that comes with great success.
It all depends on you.
Go ahead and keep going.
Never give up. You can do it!
“Be nice to people.
It doesn’t cost anything.” – Grant Cardone

PRACTICAL EXERCISE
1. Decide exactly what you want!
Make a list of 10 goals you want to achieve 12 months from now.
Which of these goals will have the most positive impact on your life?
Write it at the top of each loose sheet of paper.
2. Set a deadline for your goal.
Also set extra deadlines.
A certain date acts as a “forced way”
of your subconscious mind
and consciousness to bring them into action on your behalf.
3. Be aware of all the obstacles
that stand between you and your goal.
Why haven’t you reached that goal yet?
Pick the one biggest obstacle
and focus on eliminating it
before any other obstacles.
4. Identify the additional knowledge
and skills you need to achieve your greatest goals.
Make a plan to achieve them,
starting today.
5. Identify the people,
groups,
and organizations with the support
and resources you will need to achieve your goals.
Determine what you will have to ask them
to support you and do it give them first.
6. Detailed execution planning,
sequencing and prioritization
(Something you have to do before you do another).
Start implementing your plan now.
7. Do something every day that leads you
to accomplish your most important goal.
Have determination first,
no matter what happens,
you will never give up.
You will persist until you succeed.
“Nothing in the world can replace perseverance.
Talent will not be, nothing is more common
than talented people who do not succeed.
Genius won’t be able to;
Almost everyone knows geniuses who are not rewarded.
Education will not be possible;
The world is full of forgotten educated people.
Only perseverance and determination have limitless power.”- Clavin Coolidge
