10 Laws of Life
Rule 6: Effort And Enjoy
Success is not something that is difficult to achieve
as many people think,
but in fact, it is the path that drives us to success
and the attitude
when it comes to success.
Getting what you want is more important.
Do you feel that success
you have achieved today is the result
of your hard work and passion
with all your joy and excitement.
And when you reach your destination,
do you gladly accept it,
ready to celebrate the achievement?
If you feel that,
it means you have created conditions
for the energy of creativity
and action in yourself to flourish.
Many people mistakenly think that success
or not has nothing to do with joy
or inspiration with work,
and since then,
they don’t care about giving themselves the opportunity
to enjoy the results.
They are willing to rush into jobs that have no interest in them,
nor care much about how successful they feel.
They work like a machine that forgets their emotions.
It is a sign of mental deterioration
and a manifestation of unsustainable development.
Creativity in all areas of activity is closely related
to enjoyment and play
– the constant driving force to undertake new work.
Do everything with love and excitement,
surely the results you achieve will be much better.
In a bureaucratic society,
workers are paid for their time and effort.
But for advanced societies,
they are paid according to the value they create,
regardless of the method used.
Today, we all understand that it’s not the time
and effort spent that can do everything,
but the results achieved are the important thing.
If you get the results you want,
or maybe better,
and still enjoy what you’re doing,
you’re on the right track.
With just the right attitude,
knowing how to enjoy the values you create,
you can always find joy
and growth for yourself,
even in the most difficult
or frustrating things.
Finding joy – Freeing yourself
At the age of 19,
Clifford Shearing worked on a farm in South Africa
during a time of intense racism here.
The farm has a lot of workers
and they are divided into groups
to work together;
Clifford is the manager of one of them.
However, what makes Clifford difficult to understand
It is that despite not having much knowledge or experience,
he is still a manager.
The point that can be considered
as the only advantage Clifford has is that
he is white.
To make the most of the worker’s productivity,
every Friday,
the farm owner comes to deliver the work and says:
“If it’s done early,
everyone will have a weekend off.”
But the work he assigned always piled up like a mountain,
workers could not complete in a week,
and so they had to work hard all weekend,
with no time to rest.
One day as usual,
he assigned Clifford’s group to clear the swamp.
Everyone knows that this cannot be done in just a few days.
It will surely eat up their weekends again.
Frustrated but having a mischievous idea,
Clifford decided to tease the farm owner for fun
and also want to teach him a lesson.
First, he encourages his team to get up early at 2 a.m. every day.
Then he asked other groups to help.
All done silently.
As a result, in less than a week,
they finished their assignment.
To celebrate the success of the plan as planned,
on Friday morning, he bought a lamb
and gathered all the brothers
to enjoy a breakfast of barbecued lamb.
Around 9 a.m. that morning,
the owner of the farm came.
He saw the workers partying happily,
laughing loudly without working.
Immediately, he thought that Clifford was the mastermind
and pulled him out harshly:
– This is made by you and no one else.
Clifford, you’re breaking the rules of this ranch!
Followed by horrendous insults.
Despite being scolded heavily,
Clifford remained calm.
I said:
“I don’t understand why you’re making such a fuss.”
The silly little thing you gave us,
we’ve done a long time ago.
Immediately, a series of workers roared with laughter.
The bad farm owner was once humiliated,
even to death he did not forget.
Because of many pranks on his boss,
Clifford was hated by him and one day,
he was forced to pack up his things
and leave the farm.
In that seemingly deadlocked situation,
he discovered something
that would later shape his life.
That the power of racism is not in the hands of the government,
police or military,
but in these people.
Farmers, workers and other exploited classes are not only victims
but also instruments of racism.
A thought flashed through his mind
that made him realize that,
if this racism were everywhere,
everyone would create their own world.
Later, Clifford became a world-renowned
and respected scholar with a special interest in social and security issues.
Decades after the day of the farm incident,
the knowledge he gathered played a key role in helping
to make South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994 a success.
During this event,
based on personal experience
and organizational investigation,
Clifford found that
in order for the election to go smoothly,
marching groups must be closely coordinated
and responsible for self-governance.
As a result, very few riot police were deployed,
which meant that violent conflicts
that could adversely affect efforts
to create a democratic environment were avoided.
Now, let’s go back to the time
when Clifford was kicked off the farm.
If Clifford had left at that time with a bitter,
hateful attitude, perhaps his life would have turned in another direction
and he would not have been able to broaden his horizons
to be able to contribute
to this world a better future. .
Meaning of enjoyment
Finding ways to create joy
and excitement at work will increase creativity
and make us feel that
we are in control of the work rather than being controlled
by the work itself.
This helps us to make new discoveries about ourselves,
and may help us discover a courageous
and strong person within us that we have not known for a long time.
If you see life as fun
and growth as your goal,
you will find yourself enjoying life as if on an adventure.
And no matter where it leads you,
you will be surprised at what awaits you.
A cheerful spirit can create significant productivity,
while motivating and inspiring those around you.
Approaching work with such an attitude,
you will surely attract many sources of help and support.
People are willing to enthusiastically accomplish things
if it brings them joy, and of course,
they won’t if it doesn’t.
Paul Hamilton,
the project manager in our company,
is a very funny person.
When the number of orders increased,
to encourage workers to work on time,
he often organized movie sessions
and snacks after overtime.
Everyone felt comfortable
because they worked together,
and at the same time felt energized
because they had moments of fun
and relaxation,
re-energizing after a hard day.
We can see how enjoyment
and joy make work easier than usual.
That is also why enjoyment is extremely important
to the development of each of us.
Unleash your special ability
Have you ever noticed that the things you are best at,
most passionate about,
and offer the best opportunities for continual growth
and improvement are the activities
that bring you joy and enjoyment.
We call them activities that reflect your unique abilities.
Everyone has a special ability
and the best opportunity to contribute.
And this contribution can be made
from discovering that special ability
as well as finding ways to utilize it,
in order to create greater and greater value.
People often fall into the trap of falling into jobs
they are great at but don’t love.
Efforts to do great work can be rewarding,
but they don’t lead to any significant joy,
enjoyment,
or growth in the long run.
People can do a little better at activities
they have no passion for
but will never be motivated to grow higher.
If you focus on what brings no joy,
you will most likely destroy great opportunities
for productive growth.
You will really make a special contribution
if you put in the effort to find reward
and enjoyment in something doing what you love
and finding ways to create joy in your work
It will open you up to endless opportunities for growth.
And you probably didn’t expect all of that to be right inside of you.
Practice
See work as a game
We like to use a trick called the “sprint race”
to break down big things into more manageable chunks
and turn them into a game or pastime.
The idea of a sprint is to set a goal that can be weighed,
measured,
and measured,
and challenges you to complete it within a certain amount of time.
Track the results of your work,
and if you like,
reward yourself with a gift every time you hit a goal.
When you challenge yourself like this,
you not only create joy in a seemingly boring job,
but you also create the motivation
to find better ways of doing things.
This helps you both get the job done
and progress a lot faster.
Get creative to get the results you want
This has a lot to do with the emotional side.
If you start your job thinking
that this is a very interesting job,
you can immediately put that joy into the work.
The decision to cause Funding
by driving across the country for the Singer family
because Rebecca loves being in a car,
is a pretty good example of this.
Ask yourself,
what can I do to make my work experience enjoyable?
